Payment methods
AFP accepts two payment methods, and one subscription uses one of them. Card renews by itself and is managed partly in a hosted billing portal; cryptocurrency is bought one term at a time and never renews on its own. The two differ in the terms they accept, whether tax is added, and what evidence of payment you get. Card payment is released account by account, so it is not visible to everyone.
Summary
Section titled “Summary”| Card | Cryptocurrency | |
|---|---|---|

| Tax added | Yes, decided by your billing address | No |

| Invoice document | Yes, per payment | No — the history row is the record |
| Add-ons bought in AFP | Yes, upgrades and additions | Yes, additions |
| Reductions and downgrades | Billing portal | At renewal |
| Cancellation | Billing portal | Nothing to cancel; it lapses |
| Availability | Released per account | Everyone |
- Provider flow: you authorize a payment for the exact total, including tax, before the subscription is created. Your bank may add its own confirmation step.
- Terms: one month or twelve months.
- Renewal: automatic at the end of each term, on the card on file.
- Billing address: required. It determines the tax and is stored for every future renewal.
- Business purchase: a VAT number can be supplied. Whether it removes the tax is decided by the tax rules for the country, not by AFP.
- Managed in AFP: upgrading a plan, adding seats, pages, or profiles.
- Managed in the portal: changing the card, downgrading, reducing add-ons, cancelling.
Cancelling keeps access until the term already paid for ends, and unlinks the card so the next period can be bought with cryptocurrency.
Cryptocurrency
Section titled “Cryptocurrency”- Provider flow: AFP raises an invoice and hands you a checkout link. The subscription starts once the payment settles.
- Terms: one, three, six, or twelve months.
- Renewal: none. Buying again is a deliberate act.
- Tax: none is added on this route.
- Pending invoices: raising a new invoice cancels any of yours still unpaid.
- Add-ons: bought mid-term, priced only for the days remaining.
Terms and discounts
Section titled “Terms and discounts”| Term | Discount | Card | Cryptocurrency |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 month | 0% | Yes | Yes |
| 3 months | 5% | No | Yes |
| 6 months | 10% | No | Yes |
| 12 months | 15% | Yes | Yes |
The discount applies to the plan and to any add-ons bought with it.
- Tax is added on the card route only, and only where the billing address makes the sale taxable.
- The tax is worked out by the payment provider, not by AFP. AFP holds no rate table and no country list, so a change in the rules does not need an AFP release.
- The total is recalculated whenever the country changes during checkout, and the amount authorized is the total including tax.
- A total that could not be right for any real tax rate is refused rather than charged. A checkout that cannot determine the tax fails instead of falling back to an untaxed price.
- Prices shown on the plan list exclude tax. The checkout summary is the tax-inclusive figure.
Changing method
Section titled “Changing method”A live card subscription blocks a second checkout on either method. A live cryptocurrency subscription blocks nothing.
| From | To | How |
|---|---|---|
| Cryptocurrency | Card | Buy by card at any time. The days left on your cryptocurrency term carry onto the first card term |
| Card | Cryptocurrency | Cancel in the billing portal, which unlinks the card, then buy with cryptocurrency for the next period |
Evidence of payment
Section titled “Evidence of payment”| Method | What you get |
|---|---|
| Card | A row in payment history plus an invoice document, opened from that row in the browser |
| Cryptocurrency | A row in payment history with the amount and status |
- Payment history holds both methods in one list.
- For a team, billing belongs to the team owner. A Billing Manager acts on the owner’s subscription, portal, and invoices rather than their own. See Team roles and permissions.
- A failed card renewal opens a grace period rather than cutting access immediately.
- On the card route, buying a plan whose limits are below your current usage is refused until the usage comes down.
- Where card payment is not enabled for an account, the card option is not shown and the underlying requests are refused as well.
